Why We Prefer Our Rendering Of The Tesla Cybertruck Over The Real Deal

With Tesla's Cybertruck coming to market anytime now, here's why we prefer our renderings instead of the actual ones.

Introducing the much-awaited Tesla Cybertruck - an engineering marvel designed for unmatched strength, durability, and passenger protection. With its impenetrable exoskeleton and Ultra-Hard 30X cold-rolled stainless-steel structural skin, this all-electric pickup is set to revolutionize the automotive industry. Paired with advanced Tesla armor glass and a polymer-layered composite, the Cybertruck boasts superior damage tolerance and impact redirection capabilities.

Despite the Cybertruck's exceptional performance and futuristic appeal, large-scale production has faced delays, leaving enthusiasts eagerly awaiting its arrival. While Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has announced a 2024 start for mass production, small-scale manufacturing is expected to commence this year. In the meantime, we have a treat for you—a glimpse of our renderings of the Cybertruck. As the anticipation builds, we believe our designs offer a fresh perspective on this otherworldly vehicle. From striking aesthetics to innovative features, our renderings bring out the best in the Cybertruck, showcasing its potential to surpass even the most popular pickup trucks.

With different configurations available, including the Single Motor RWD and Dual Motor AWD options, the Cybertruck promises impressive performance figures, such as 0-60 mph acceleration in as little as 2.9 seconds and a range of up to 500 miles—all powered by its electric drivetrain. However, we've tweaked the super-truck to be something better-fit for a larger audience. Keep reading to see what changes TopSpeed has made.

One of the main draws to the Tesla Cybertruck is its modern, futuristic design. However, what if this now-iconic super truck could have followed a more traditional format? With our in-house renderings, we've created what we think might have been a cooler, more palpable design for the all-new Tesla Cybertruck coming in 2024. From a more accessible bed to a smaller overall size, our version of the Cybertruck feels more 'doable' for the everyday driver. After all, Tesla has been trying to capture a wider audience, but this is the Cybertruck being SO unique: this might not happen immediately (or ever).

You can see with our renderings that the Cybertruck could have easily been a game-changer, all while keeping practicality. Yes, the all-new Tesla version is awesome, but it's not going to be on the minds of someone who might own a landscaping, construction, real estate, or other equipment-heavy business. One thing with our rendering versus Elon's is that with this version of the Cybertruck, you can access your truck's interior and back end without maneuvering the futuristic configuration. Instead of sharp lines and tricky door handles, this truck feels more accessible to every audience: something that the upcoming Cybertruck may have needed. We're not against innovation, but how one does it can be questionable.

As one of the more highly-anticipated releases of our time, the Tesla Cybertruck has seen harsh criticism and plenty of news coverage: good and bad. Elon Musk's supercar brand has been breaking barriers since its inception, but not to the extremes of the Cybertruck (yet). What made this brand a standout was that it made eco-friendly driving sexy and exciting, something that had not yet been done by major car companies. However, with the bulky, almost awkward-looking Cybertruck: what does this mean for us, the consumers?

As shown above, you can compare our renderings to the Cybertruck mockups, easily spotting the vast difference in style, body, and overall aesthetics. Elon's version of the Cybertruck looks massive from all angles, which isn't ideal for most drivers. After all, your truck has to fit into your garage or parking space and blend in with the other cars driving around it. The Cybertruck is captivating but feels more like a whacky experiment than a logical, practical vehicle.

Instead of creating such a large frame for the truck, we wished that Tesla would have focused more on the internal configurations like they typically do. Not every truck, sedan, or SUV has to be so groundbreaking that it breaks the very mold of the average consumer. Again, we're not haters of the new release, but it's not something most of us will buy from a logistical standpoint.

One of the more surprising figures coming out of the Tesla Cybertruck release is that it's reported the pre-orders for this model are nearing two million. For a truck or vehicle in general, these are staggering figures, shocking us and outlets across the globe. Tesla has created such a powerful stir in the industry and through social media that this Cybertruck could just be a purchase for people wanting to stand out and bring attention to themselves and Tesla.

As our renderings showed above, the Cybertruck could have been just as sleek but with a more palatable configuration and easy-to-understand formatting. However, could this otherworldly design be what Tesla needs moving forward? There is no on-road vehicle like the upcoming Cybertruck, and Tesla knows it. In the EV world, many auto brands are creating cars as good or better than Musk's brand: so the Cybertruck could be the start of something new visually for the company. We're on the fence here because a practical design makes a truck workable for most people, but at the same time, groundbreaking design should be celebrated.

One thing to note, however, is that not many people outside of Tesla's control have tested this truck. Many people could easily be turned off if it drives anything like it looks. Again, a spaceship is fun for a minute, but is it fun forever? With such a wide, sharp body, the Cybertruck might not be an everyday vehicle for people but rather a toy they bring out for photos and attention. That's why our rendering offers a middle-ground for all reading, so you can see what could have been. With it being shipped out in the next year, what could be the consensus from Tesla fans and foes? We're undoubtedly anxious about it.

Whatever your opinion on the Cybertruck, it's always good to have a few options to look at before making a purchase. Considering these retail for $39,990, $49,990, and $69,990, it's worth seeing what could have been rather than what we're stuck with. That said, who's to say Cybertruck won't come out with a watered-down, more practical version like our renderings visualize? We're noticing in the vehicle industry that people aren't buying cars just for fun. Auto manufacturers have to shift focus from high-end experimental designs to accessible, economical versions to bring in in-person and online customers.

We're not in a market where consumers want to take risks with their money. Tesla might be able to skate around this, but we're not sure quite yet. Nobody is likely buying a Cybertruck for work, but could that initiate a major change in its configuration over the subsequent few releases? Will there be a second-generation Cybertruck, or is this the beginning, middle, and end of its story?
